Michael Fanning, LPC

Michael Fanning, LPC, is a licensed Professional counselor who works primarily with adolescents who struggle with anger, depression, anxiety, social difficulties, and ADHD, among other challenges.

Prior to joining the Sasco River team, Michael worked as both a teacher and a counselor at a therapeutic day school in Cambridge, MA, for five years. During that time, he helped kids who struggled emotionally, socially and academically achieve success by developing and fostering therapeutic relationships, equipping students with necessary skill sets, and teaching coping skills to navigate both internal and external stressors. Michael also has extensive experience running an Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program designed to further stabilize adolescents coming from partial hospitalization and inpatient programs.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Saint Bonaventure University. He also holds a master’s degree in education and a master’s degree in mental health counseling, both from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys being active outdoors, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with his wife and menagerie of animals.
