Raphael Elkind

With 30 years of experience as an educator, Raphe enjoys helping students set goals and reach their potential as learners, while promoting their abilities as readers, writers or mathematicians. He believes it all starts with relationships. This means that connecting with students is vital to the process of making progress and positive change. Having high expectations and tapping into individual strengths will help students to take charge of their work and foster independence. The process of moving forward involves constant experimentation and reinvention of oneself in order to discover what works and leads to developing new habits and better outcomes. There is no such thing as a “one size fits all” approach.

Raphe has spent most of his life in service to young people and their families as a foster care social worker, a camp counselor for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children with life limiting illnesses, an environmentalist with Save the Sound, a middle school teacher at New Canaan Country School and most recently a Horizons literacy specialist.
