A licensed psychologist with specialized training in clinical neuropsychology, Rich also worked as a certified school psychologist for 25 years. He has served clients across the age span and brings a diverse background of experience from various settings. These experiences range from a Maximum-Security Unit in the Connecticut Department of Correction to more traditional schools in both public and private settings. Rich has worked at elementary, middle, high school, and college levels and within private practice. In his work, he collaborates with administration, teachers, and parents to support, provide, and devise programming for students maximizing their strengths and working to ameliorate challenges. In private practice, he works with parents, teachers, and schools to identify and develop programming and accommodations to better fit the learning needs of students through consultation and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments.
Rich completed his graduate work in School Psychology at the University of Hartford. He completed a Certificate of Specialization in Clinical Neuropsychology at Fielding Graduate University. He obtained a Ph.D. in Counseling and Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut. He has also completed Internships in School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, and Counseling Psychology.
Rich has been a professor of psychology at the University of Hartford and Fairfield University, instructing classes on Clinical Neuropsychology, Personality Assessment, Group Therapy, and Community Psychology. He has provided professional development on personality assessment, cognitive assessment, and executive functions to school staff and administration.
Rich has experience working with children, adolescents, and their parents who experience various clinical challenges. These challenges include learning and executive function issues, sexual orientation and gender identity struggles, depression, anxiety, ADHD, school refusal, and other disruptive behavioral and emotional disorders.
Rich conducts comprehensive neuropsychological assessments focusing on the holistic understanding of an individual’s functioning and experiences. These assessments emphasize the impact of each individual’s unique profile on learning and living. He strongly advocates for students and families, as education and support are critical to future success, both in and out of the classroom.
Rich is the father of two, a 20 month old and 17-year-old senior in high school. He enjoys gardening, hiking, photography, and chasing a toddler in his spare time.
