Suzanne Ford, MS, OTR/L

Suzanne graduated from Manhattanville College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a double minor in Spanish and Italian. She then worked as an assistant director and lead preschool teacher for ten years before pursuing her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. She speaks four languages and has created and led workshops and in-services on various topics, including transitions for children, pediatric home-based therapies, sensory play, stress management, fall prevention, and driving rehabilitation. Suzanne has gained clinical experience across multiple settings, including hospital acute care, driving simulation, hand therapy, and a children’s psychiatric unit.

While obtaining her graduate degree, Suzanne worked as an occupational therapy research graduate assistant where she lead a play-praxis study with children, conducted research on a play study for children with autism, and contributed resources to the sensory integration global network website.

Suzanne has always had a passion for working with children and aspired to become an occupational therapist to enhance children’s quality of life, independence, and improve skills to provide for a successful future. She has seen firsthand how sensory processing disorders can impact a young child in the classroom and how early intervention can have such a positive impact on occupations and functional skills. Through creative, evidence-based interventions and holistic, client-centered care, Suzanne strives to help each client reach their goals and full potential.

When she isn’t thinking about occupational therapy, Suzanne enjoys reading, hiking, and assembling dollhouses. She also has her Level I certification in Reiki and enjoys learning about complementary medicines including, yoga, crystal healing, aromatherapy and reflexology.
