Neuropsychologist

Dr. Erin Micali is a licensed psychologist in New York and Connecticut and a pediatric neuropsychologist specializing in strengths‑based assessment. She focuses on identifying each child’s innate abilities to support growth, development, and long‑term success. Her reports are intended to support the child to access their education and better understand their learning style through highlighting the interplay of emotions, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and overall psychological functioning. Dr. Micali has extensive expertise in evaluating neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disorders, and intellectual disability. She also conducts comprehensive assessments addressing mood, anxiety, depression, and personality functioning.

Dr. Micali earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Connecticut, one in psychological sciences through the Honors Program and one in communication. In 2023, Erin completed a combined doctorate in counseling and school psychology at Rivier University.

Her clinical background includes an APA‑accredited predoctoral internship at a community care center, where she provided psychological assessments and therapy for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Her training emphasized cultural humility and evidence‑based practice.

Following her internship, Erin completed a two‑year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology, further strengthening her expertise in neurodevelopmental and cognitive assessments.

Before becoming a pediatric neuropsychologist, Erin worked as a community health worker supporting families after traumatic experiences. She also gained extensive experience in community health centers and therapeutic school settings. These roles shaped her collaborative, trauma‑informed, and strengths‑based clinical approach, informing the practical and individualized recommendations she provides to every client.

Dr. Erin Micali provides comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults across Fairfield County, lower New Haven County, and Westchester County. She works closely with local communities and schools to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development. Dr. Micali specializes in early childhood evaluations and first‑time diagnostic assessments, emphasizing that a well‑crafted neuropsychological report can serve as a roadmap for understanding a person’s strengths, challenges, and holistic needs.

Her clinical expertise includes working with students experiencing school refusal or school avoidance, social‑emotional difficulties, neurodevelopmental disorders, communication disorders, and language delays. Dr. Micali is committed to helping families and schools understand each learner’s profile to guide effective interventions and long‑term support.

Dr. Micali is a contributor to the Pediatric Mind‑Body Health Lab at Touro University. Her research history includes research on child development, psychological assessment, and integrated care. She has published on equitable psychological assessment and inclusive teaching practices for college students with neurodevelopmental diagnoses. Her additional publications explore metacognitive strategies in higher education, parent education on neurodiversity across the lifespan, the role of artificial intelligence in psychology, expanding access to pro bono and low‑fee assessment services, and the presentation of the female autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Earlier in her career, Dr. Micali conducted undergraduate research on joint engagement and language acquisition in toddlers, laying the foundation for her ongoing focus on neurodevelopment.

Outside of her clinical work, Erin enjoys spending time outdoors; kayaking, exploring nature trails, hiking, and walking along the beach with her dog. She values activities that support mindfulness, balance, and connection with the natural environment.
