Jo Briggs holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University, a BA and LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), and earned her LLM from Boston University. With a diverse background that includes experience as a corporate lawyer, guardian ad litem, co-creator, and host of a video series on divorce, as well as being a mother of two, Jo brings a compassionate and solution-focused approach to her therapeutic work.
Jo adopts a systemic approach to therapy, which considers an individual’s patterns and behaviors within the context of their relationships with family, friends, and the community. Her primary goal is to help clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves within these systems, identify strategies to address challenges and leverage their strengths and resources to find solutions that enhance relationships and overall well-being.
In her clinical role at the Family and Children’s Agency, Jo has assisted individuals across the lifespan in navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, parenting issues, divorce, and “empty-nesting.”
